Assignment 5

My favourite topic of archaeology is the rock art, which are the art representation of the past people. The rock art can be petroglyphs or cave paintings. The first are incisions over rock, this can be realized with artefacts of bone, antler or others rock pointed. The second type of art is realized with natural pigments which extracted of blood, flower or vegetation.
I like very much this theme because I think the rock art is the expression of the people. The result of ritual activities was the rock art, and many times, the rock art represents the “fosfenos”. These ones are the visual impressions after of consume hallucinogenic, and then the rock art can help to interpret the symbolic aspect of past societies.

The next pages are my favourite web sites about topics of archaeology, because these are very useful and this has many pictures.
The first web site is http://www.rupestre.net/alps/index.html, this page is very beautiful because this have rock art throughout of world. Too, this page has many documents which explain topics of rock art and very lot links in Spanish about this themes, then is very didactic!!
My second favourite web site is http://www.jstor.org. This page is one link very common, because this has a lot of archaeological documents. In this page you can find and download many titles publish for this science journal. The most of documents are in English, but are few in Spanish.
The last web site is http://www.nps.gov/archive/efmo/parks/glossary.htm , because this page is one archaeological dictionary. This definitively is the most useful because I read very lot of documents in English which are technical archaeological vocabulary. I can’t encounter these words in common dictionaries, but in this dictionary I can find and understand the vocabulary.
